If you're in southern Vietnam, this is a can't-miss. It's very unique, and quite fascinating. Although being served breakfast on a boat full of tourists may feel a bit, well, touristy, the floating market is authentic and very cool. The floating markets originated back when the jungles were so thick that passage on the many waterways of the Mekong Delta was much easier and more practical than going overland. Even today, transporting goods by boat is efficient and more common than you'd think. Definitely worth seeing!

We organised a floating market and Mekong river delta tour through our guesthouse for USD 10 per person with breakfast included. We started early in the morning and had a tour of the foating market, bought pineapples from a boat and also coffee. We then had a tour of the Mekong river delta which lasted several hours and also with a stop at a local orchard where we had some coffees and got to sample the fruits. It was definitely the highlight of Southern Vietnam.
