May 12, 2009 There's not tonnes to do on Cat Ba Island itself, and of the things, this is definitely worth seeing. I did a short 1.5 hour hike to the top of one of the tallest hills in the Cat Ba National Park, and the views we had of the surrounds were really fantastic. The hiking path is paved with stones steps for the first part followed by a dirt trail. At the top is a rusty lookout station used by park rangers to spot forest fires, but gives you an even better view of the whole island as you look out to forest and farms juxtaposed in the terrain. Apparently there are other much longer hikes that take you deeper in to the forest as well as all the way to the other side of the island to see remote fishing villages. Those sound pretty fun. May 4, 2009 A favourite place on Cat Ba island is hard to find! The nicest place for me was the nationalpark, where you can go hiking. The hills are pretty steep though and you even need to climb some rocks if you want to reach the top of the hill. Take it slow and enjoy the great view when you are up there! To take a guide and water with you might be a wise decision. Related Links
