Hang Dau Go
About Hang Dau Go
Hang Dau Go, meaning Wooden stakes Caves, is one of the most impressive and beautiful caves in Halong Bay. It is also known in French as the Grotte des Merveilles (Cave of Marvels). This huge cave comprises 3 chambers. The outer cave contains the most spectacular stalactites and rock formations. Within the second chamber is a type of crystal that sparkles and reflects a kaleidoscope of light when a flashlight is pointed towards the crystals. The third chamber is what contributed to the naming of the caves. It was used in the 13the century to store sharp bamboo states in an attempt by war general Tran Hung Dao into the Bach Dang River to impale the invasion fleet of Kublai Khan.
The Hang Dau Go cave is the closest cave to the mainland. Payment Accepted:

Feb 16, 2011 Wonderful cave (or sometimes called "grotto"?). The ceiling looks like somebody scoop out ice cream from a huge vanilla ice-cream box and it leaves the scoop marks all over the surface :)) Btw, a little voyage on Ha Long bay would not be complete without a night on board. Great experiences. Found a collection of junks and cruises at www.fascinatinghalongbay.com
