Considered Vietnam's most important Buddhist site, Chau Hong (Perfume Pagoda) is located in the Huong Son (Perfume) Mountains.  It comprises a cluster of temples and shrines located within the My Duc Hamlet.  Among the more famous sites include Thien Chu (Pagoda Leading to Heaven), Giai Oan Chu (Purgatorial Pagoda), and the Huong Tich Chu (Pagoda of the Perfumed Vestige).  According to legend, the Pagodas were built by a monk who happened on the site during his search for enlightenment.  The area is also known for its beautiful scenery.  A large number of Buddhist pilgrims visit the area during the festivals of Tet around March and April to pray to Quan Am, the goddess of mercy and compassion.

The pagodas can be visited along a scenic boat trip that meanders between limestone cliffs.

Getting there:
The Perfume Pagoda is situated about 60km southwest by road.  Travel to My Duc by car, then walk about 15 minutes to the boat dock, and take a boat ride to near the Pagoda.  From there, it is another steep walk up to the Pagoda.
