Ben Thanh Market has over 3000 stalls and is the oldest and busiest market in Vietnam. Ben Thanh Market is a square building with four gates that look onto Quách Thị Trang Plaza, Phan Bội Châu, Phan Chu Trinh, and Lê Thánh Tôn Streets. The side that looks onto the plaza has a tower with three clocks, all made by Citizen.

All the thrills of haggling reaches a penultimate high as more than friendly locals sweet tooth their way to selling their wares at Ben Tanh ! From native bags sourced from the Indochinese interior to wooden decorative plates made from the nearest town, Ben Tanh Market offers a complete plethora of souvenir items anyone can enjoy choosing from. A friendly reminder for everyone: although it exhilarates us to stumble upon great finds in dirt cheap prices we must remember that our friendly locals are there for a living! So we must, in all earnest, give them the best possible win-win sale. Before going to the market, ask a friend, a tour guide or the nearest tourist officer for a list or an advisory of prices in the local currency (best to know what sort of items you want to buy) that way you will walk into Ben Tanh knowing approximately how much the things you desire to buy will cost--you are safe from being robbed with overpriced items at the same time helping several sellers dispose of their wares! A multitude of food joints specializing in Pho , a native noodle soup favorite by locals and foreigners alike, are randomly scattered within the market proximity Pho 24 being one of the more popular names in the trade. After some relaxed outing ride a cab safely to your hotel or inn, look at your left and at your right before crossing any road in HCM unless you want to be caught up in the hordes of motorcycles (Cyclos) plying the innumerable streets of Saigon. Xin Chao!

I really liked this market. It was very large and had alot to look at. I bought a bag and some cheap souvenirs here. Lots of smelly food laying around, so i just avoided that section! Make sure you try to bargain with the seller to get the price down as they usually try to charge you alot more than it's worth. I got something down to 100D from 180D.

Spend an afternoon wandering around the hundreds of stores in this centrally-located market. Make sure to wander through the food portion of the market to check out all the exotic fruits and meat...but make sure to bring nose-plugs!

An iconic landmark in Ho Chi Minh City. Crossing the road infested with motorbikes in order to reach Ben Thanh Market is a sport in itself. But the visit is well worth it. A huge array of food and goodies to shop.
