Featuring architecture from the Nguyen dynasty of the 19th century, the Giac Vien Pagoda was built in 1789 by a monk originally as a small pavilion for his daily prayers.  The Pagoda features many typical south Vietnamese features.  The main shrine is also a large hall, and is used for the worship of Buddha.  In the east and west are corridors, and in the rear, a spacious compartment.  Along the way are small altars.  The pagoda also features a number of engraved plates - about 60 that include various animals, and are the only engraves of its kind left intact in Vietnam.

Giac Vien was the centre of worshiping ceremonies
of its region, and is considered an important cultural relic.
