Established in 1975 as a reminder of the effects of war, the museum features artifacts, photographs and pictures documenting some of the atrocities and activites that occured in Vietnam.   Among the pictures are depictions of civilian killings, chemical warfare,  torture, planes, tanks and bombs.  Alongisde the display are explanations of the effects.  US weapons, tanks, bombs and planes are also on display.  Originally called the Museum of American and Chinese War Crimes, the museum was renamed to its present name to avoid offending tourists.

Interesting place for army/war/weapon freaks. Several US Army machinery in the garden (tanks, bombs, helicopters, airplanes), exhibitions in the buildings. The exhibition about the war photographers are particulary interesting.
Open: 8:00-11:30 and 13:00-16:00 if I remember correctly, so be sure to arrive in proper time otherwise they'll send you out at 11:30 and you have to buy another ticket if you're not finished the exhibitions.

I think the original name is more approperiate.
"American war crimes" museums should be established every where from Hiroshima, Viet Nam to Iraq, and God knows where next...!!!

It was a good place to learn about Vietnam's history. It is really hard though to see all those pictures of the people. It almost made me cry at certain points of time!

If you're an American visiting Vietnam, this place is sure to ruin your day... but it's a don't-miss chance to see history from the side of our then-adversaries.
