Our flight we found was departing from Wright-Patterson AFB near Dayton, Ohio. We left early Sunday morning to make the drive to Ohio and "made the cut" to be on the flight. Nothing is ever a definite and as a retiree it is easy to be bumped from flights by higher priority passengers or cargo. From Wright-Patterson AFB, it was off to Tucson, Arizona, on a C-9 aircraft where we dropped off duty passengers, refueled and then took off for Santa Barbara, California. After touch down, we spent about an hour on the ramp waiting for a ride to the other side of the airport, but that's all part of the adventure. We eventually got our car and began the trip to Vandenberg AFB where we were able to rent a room at their lodging facility. Overall, a long day but a good one as we prepared for a week of fun!
