Getting there:
If you're coming west down 41st from Vancouver, hang a short left around the back of the building with the dollar store.  There's supposedly parking underground (so says a sign in the restaurant) although we couldn't find it!

I came here with friends the other day who strongly recommended the place. Given that they live in Burnaby and we drove all the way to Kerrisdale to come here is a testament to how much they liked it!

Ajisai is fairly small, so be prepared to have to wait as I don't believe they take reservations. We arrived at 8:30pm and were luckily seated shortly after at the bar, where we got to watch the chefs at work.

We ordered a number of items. I tried Kampachi for the first time as well as salmon and hamachi pressed sushi. We also got a spicy chopped scallop roll, their spicy salmon roll, a negitoro roll and a tamago roll. Everything was delicious and the chefs were accommodating. We wanted slightly spicier salmon, and they obliged to give us extra sauce in a dish. Between the pressed salmon and the pressed hamachi, I preferred the salmon. It's also cheaper ($11 for 6 pieces versus $15). In general I found the prices reasonable for the quality, and would definitely go back even though it's "far"! :)

Decided to try this place after reading some reviews and I would agree that the sushi and food quality were really good. Everything was very tasty! My friends thought the spicy salmon roll was the best they ever had.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Pressed Sushi and the Monk Fish Liver the most.

My husband had some sake that he said was just mediocre, but since I wasn't drinking it, I'm giving 5 stars based on the food!

Went here with a few friends and sat at the bar. The spicy salmon was the best I've ever had, and I've been eating sushi all over Vancouver and San Francisco for the last 10 years. The house roll is wrapped in a deliciously thin piece of tamago, and is worth every penny. Overall the sushi was phenomenal, even for Vancouver standards.
