A friend really really likes this place so we took him there for his birthday. We tried to go once before but ended up arriving on the day they were doing a private company function. Doh!

This time we got in fine and got one of their round tables in the back. The menu is a 3 page tall-narrow brochure style spread, with the last page changes for items of the day. We got the tuna negitoro which is served on garlic toast. The tuna was so fatty it almost had a buttery fois gras taste. Was really good - good enough for the table to order 3. Other highlights included the pumpkin puree and the shrimp tempura. I love ceviche so I ordered that but it was so-so compared to some Peruvian restaurants I'd visited.

I found the place a little bit cold, and had to put on my jacket. My mini pet-peeve are restaurants that only have cold water in their bathroom and this was one of those. I had just arrived to the restaurant after a full day of plane-and-bus transit so it was quite the shock to wash my face in the basin with coooold water. But then hey, how many people are going to do that in a restaurant? :p

Bottom line - tasty food. Decent price for tapas given that tapas is usually more. Dishes are around $7.95-$11.95 per dish and each person would order about 2-4 dishes depending on how starving you are.

As with any kind of tapas dining, this is a great place to try a variety of new foods and share with friends.

My personal favourites are the negitoro and the ebi mayo.

This was one of the first Japanese Tapas places I tried but in the last few years there has been quite a trend in new establishments opening!
