Walking into this restaurant attached to a so-so looking hotel, I had my skepticism. I mean, cheesy name, advertising board out front screaming $15.99 Prime Rib smack in the heart of tourist trap North America? I was feelin’ the good vibes. But being that I just wasn’t in the mood for another famous franchised eatery, in we went. Given the name of the restaurant, the décor not surprisingly featured a nautical theme. Giant fishnets and various ship related paraphernalia inside a wooden cabin. Correspondingly, the menu included a lot of seafood items, including a special couples section for multi-course meals for two. Lobster, crab, all of the usual seafood could be had on both fixed and market price menus. There are also a couple house specialties – seafood dishes with an Italian tomato sauce or cream sauce. Not to be outdone, a selection of chicken (including chicken cordon bleu), steaks, and pastas were also there to chosen. Coming here on a Saturday evening in the dead of winter, and there weren’t too many other diners. Two other families, and us. The waiter seated us in the front corner beside the windows as far away as possible from the others let us peruse through the menu. I chose a Fettuccini seafood dish with mussels, prawns, crab and skate, buddy Chris took the Prime rib Special. And I eat my earlier words. I was pleasantly surprised. My pasta dish was well seasoned and consisted of a highly approved seafood to pasta ratio. The Prime Rib was well prepared, nice and tender, and the sides of rice pilaf and green beans were also cooked just so. In all, well worth the $38 it cost for both of us to eat our full. Throughout it all, the waiter was attentive, and also entertaining. He just fit the ambiance of the restaurant. Finally I should say given the exorbitant prices they charge you for parking in the whole town, check to see if you are able to park in the hotel parking lot (adjacent to the restaurant). We were able to do so for free since we were dining there, but again, it’s the dead of winter right now as I write.
