Close to the financial district and theatre district, Elephant and Castle on King Street in Toronto is the perfect place for a pint or some classic pub grub. Ample patio space in summer is great for people watching.

This is a "safe" call if you have to meet someone downtown who isn't familiar with Toronto. It is not anywhere near the best pub but it is far from the worst. Food is above average with good appetizer and main course options, however it is slightly pricey because if it's location. Beer selection is pretty generic and uninspired.
