North Indian
Situated in the hard of Little India on Gerrard Street, Siddhartha offers a buffet menu and a traditional menu.  The restaurant is decorated in a dark, rich, fabric swarthed decore and set in subdued lighting.  To the left, a number of wooden booths offer a bit more privacy.  The buffet menu selection is quite reasonable, and focuses more on North Indian cuisine, although some South Indian dishes are available.

Having had my fair share of bad Indian buffets, I had some reservations about trying this place, but I was simply famished, I needed to make a decision fast, and this restaurant had the biggest lineup of people in little India so I decided to follow the herd. I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant offered a combination of a la carte dining or their buffet, but the inviting aromas of quelque chose coming from the buffet lines and my grumbling stomach made the decision. And I don’t regret it a bit. The nan was tasty, the curries scrumptious and the meat tender, unlike some other Indian Buffets I’d been where the meat was dry like jerky. The most pleasant two discoveries in the bunch were their spinach and cheese, and okra dish. Mmm. The waiters were all very attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was nice. At $12.95 a person for dinner, it’s well worth the price.

Toronto has a plethora of Indian restaurants, and Indian lunch buffets are a great deal. I have not been to the Gerrard location, which I hear is better than the King Street location. My experience at the King Street location is that the food was tasty and selection solid, but they continually ran out of naan bread during the busy lunch buffet time. I went here twice (King St location) and have to recommend trying one of the other stops on King (Aroma, Dhaba) or Queen St (India Palace) instead if you're going for a lunch buffet.
