Winner of NOW Magazine’s BEST SUSHI award for four years running, this busy sushi hotspot in the Annex is worth the lineup and wait.  Featuring two floors of dining space, the sushi roll part of the menu is not extensive, but the portions are extremely generous, the food is fresh and the price is extremely reasonable.  Popular with students and young professionals alike.

Now, I’m a self professed sushi junkie, and coming from Vancouver, the land of the all-you-can-eat establishments, I’m pretty critical of sushi restaurants. It was a bit of a wait (maybe 40 minutes?) to get seated, which felt about 4 times longer because it was freezing cold outside, but I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of food I got. I ordered myself an Honour Roll (Salmon, Tobiko, Green Onion, Avocado) and split a Sweet Tempura Avocado roll with my friends, and that was enough to feel pleasantly full. My total? $7.50 for the I’m-full-now feeling of goodness. The waitress was friendly and attentive, didn’t mind that we loitered in the establishment for a good several hours, and made sure we always had warm tea in our cups. Not bad, I say. For extra entertainment, order the Ginger Wasabi Roll, which basically includes Ginger, Wasabi, and Salmon. That’s it. The blazing fury and sinus-clearing effects of that much wasabi in a roll with no rice for buffer is sure to be an amusing spectacle for your friends. Just bring a camera so you, too, can appreciate it later. Much later.
