Cocoa Locale
About Cocoa Locale
A new-comer to the cupcake business with tried and true ingredients. As this is a one-person show, you won’t find a plethora of flavours, but what you do get is highly satisfying and thoroughly memorable. At $3.00 a cupcake, these may sound pricey, but the experience is worth every Canadian cent. Flavours are: lemon-coconut (=the best), chocolate, and vanilla. Go in the early afternoon if possible. The owner only makes 72 of each flavour a day. This bakery also has unbelievably good spicy chocolate cakes (rich dark chocolate with cayenne pepper, cardamom, and cinnamon equals cocoa heaven.)

Jun 26, 2007 I’m a little biased here. I like Rima, and this is one of the places I miss about Montreal. Cocoa Locale is a cute little bakery that more than makes up for its limited selection. Rima is experimenting all the time, so you’ll see flavours from Ginger-lemon tarts to Cayenne Caramom Chocolate cake. Every time I go to Montreal, I feel the urge to buy some cakes to take back with me, so I’d say that’s a pretty good testament to how much I like her cakes. :) Sep 30, 2007 There are 3 things that I miss about Montreal, and the cakes Reema makes at Cocoa Locale is one of them. These cakes are by far the best I have ever tasted, and I'm not saying this lightly. Everything in the store is great, but there are 3 flavors that absolutely must be tried: 1. Vanilla-Lavender 2. Lemon-Coconut 3. Chocolate-Cayenne (with a touch of Cardamom)
