Newtown, on the corner of Cresent and Maisonneuve (1476 Crescant), is a restuarant, bar, club which is owned by former F1 World Champ Jacques Villeneuve. I wasn't in the club in the basement, but started in the bar/lounge on the ground floor. A very nice atmosphere with enough room to have some privacy. Serve nice wines and good drinks. A bit pricey, but not exaggerated. Dinner on the first floor (and I guess in the summer there is a terrace on the roof) was excellant. Was there rather late, so almost empty. I can imagine if it is full, that it could be a bit noisy. But the ambiance is great. Service was very good, super friendly. You can see Jacques history of racing in Japan by looking at the menu. Many modern dishes with slight japanese style or ingredients. For example, the "Kamikaze de Thon" starter. Besides being beautifully arranged, it tasted excellant. Perfectly seasoned, perfectly proprtioned.. The Tuna and Scampi main dish was near perfect as well. Next time I'd request the tuna just a dash less cooked, but thats it. I guess the only two little thinkgs I would critisize is that the ventilation / aircon by my window table was a bit strong, and that after 10:30pm the music from downstairs got rather loud, mixing with the decent dining music and voices. But definately a 'do again'. Oh, and the white wine, a Chilean Sauvignon Blanc, was beautiful.
