Aug 23, 2009 I recently went to castaways in Timor during a diving trip and asked one of the waitresses for a coffee, she asked if I would like to try one of their specials, a Coffee Avocatto. This is a blend of locally grown and roasted coffee made into an espresso, which is poured over a scoop of ice cream in a latte glass and topped with half a slice of avocado. This seemed a strange combination to me but, since I am in a foreign country I might a well try the local "brew". The result was unbelievable, the mixing of the unique flavors of the local coffee with the smooth and soft avocado, combined with the ice cream was unbelievable. How come we don't have this in Australia ? When I get home I will be making sure my local coffee shop gets this hidden little treat onto their menu. If you go to Timor this is a must see and do experience. Aug 23, 2009 I too have tried the Avocatto. I really must say that on first impressions I was a little surprised, but the exquisite flavour just took over and I endulged. The aroma of the caffe' permeated the avocado piece, adding a delicious and exotic palate to an already cemented favourite. This one is presumably a world first, but I cannot wait to see this snapped up by coffee officionadas everywhere. Will be going back for more! Aug 23, 2009 As per previous reveiws I to have to agree on taste and flavours of the delightful Avocatto. It is one of the highlights of Castaways and it really caps of a great night. As a coffee lover I just hope the Avocatto is introduced in Australia where I am sure it will be well received.
