We ate at Haxenbauer just before Christmas, 2008. They gave us English menus before we could ask. Nice.
We had veal knuckle and pork knuckle. The pork was great. The veal was nothing short of unreal. They rotisserize the hunks of veal, probably for hours, and mine tasted like the best prime rib I've ever had, and was fork tender. Hint: order a half knuckle unless you are used to huge meals.
The service, the beer, the deserts, all were superb. I'm trying to find an excuse to go back to Germany just to eat there again.

I'm not surprised to see Haxenbauer is still getting rave reviews 10 years after our unforgettable meal there in July 1999. Four of us had the veal and pork knuckles and it was one of the best meals we've ever had. If we ever get back to Germany, and I certainly hope we do, we will absolutely put Munich and Haxenbauer on our itinerary.
