Apr 18, 2009 Very touristy, but one of those places on everyone's list. I find the best way to accomplish the task is to take a quick stroll through the ground floor beer hall, which is packed elbow to elbow with the contents of several tour buses. Then go one floor up and have your Bier und Wurst in the relative peace of a restaurant with a higher proportion of locals to tourists. Another option is to eat across the way at the lovely Ayinger establishment, enjoying great food and great atmosphere while watching all the tourist traffic through the doors of the Hofbraeuhaus! Don't forget to have some of their wonderful Dunkelweissbier while you're at it. Jun 30, 2009 One of the most fun drinking places in all of Europe. Everyone is a friend and the beer is great. The Um Pa Pa band is very traditional and plays great music; it's great to watch them down the beer. Just remember to get your beer into the other guy's mug when cheering "Prost!" Sep 8, 2009 Well, me being a native 'Münchener Kindl" I have to admit it is not a place where I wanna go. BUT: for every American, Australian ... iit is probably a must see, except during the Oktoberfest season end of September when you are better of to go in one of the huge 'Bierzelte'. Na dann Prost ;-) May 3, 2009 Tourist and the service isn't so great, but the atmosphere and the food are fantastic! Biersteins by the liter, solid old wooden furniture, signage in the local dialect, live music... awesome!
