Jun 12, 2009 As residents of New York City my fiancee and I are sushi snobs admittedly, and with her finishing studies in Bremen we are always trying in vain to get our sushi fix here. We went for the 20 euro all-you-can-eat. The fish was fresh but pretty plain and boring - 3 or 4 kinds - salmon, tuna, whitefish - heavy on rice. The avocado in "California Rolls" was awful and rubbery. Absolutely nothing of interest whatsoever - shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, special rolls, forget all of that. Here's what totally killed it for us - the attitude: I asked for tap water (an American thing) and was informed it would cost 50 cents/glass!!!! The miso soup was free and salty which made us incredibly thirsty - and then drinks were expensive and small. Then the kicker - if you eat only the fish but don't choose to finish off the stacks of rice you will be charged 7 euros per piece!!! OF COURSE they are trying to fill you up on rice and not fish, but this is so low-class we almost left. We certainly won't be back. Conclusion - give up on great sushi in Bremen.
