Apr 9, 2009 We stayed in Reykjavik for four nights and ate some pretty special food. As a somewhat picky gourmet I didn't think our dining experience could be topped.... I was wrong. The Fishmarket was a delight, welcoming decor, cosy atmosphere, exceptionally helpful and knowledgable staff who made choosing our meal simple, and to be honest this was no mean feat given the amazing choice on offer. We plumped for the 8 dish taster menu and were not disappointed. Each dish arrived accompanied by an explanation from the chef, beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. I would thoroughly recommend this. The only down side being that whilst the food delivers, the accompanying wine was in my opinion shockingly overpriced. On the whole though a very pleasent way to spnd a last night in Reykjavik. Sep 19, 2009 3 Norwegian boys stayed in Reykjavik in november 2008 during the finacial crisis. The food in Iceland was outstanding, and the best of them all was The Fish Marked. The cosy atmosphere and the helpfull staff made us feel like home. We ordered a 9 dich taster. first 4 startes and than som delicious sushi ( The best I ever tasted ) than we started on 3 main courses. And it was alot of food! As a desert we got a plate whit 4 differet desserts. I will recomend this place to all visitors of Reykjavik. Im not sure if this place have any micheling stars, but it should have had atleast 2 stars. The prices was not that bad. we payed around 20K iclandic kroner, that is about 200 dollars. for 3 persons and 3 bottles of chablie grand cru Jan 22, 2009 This place is fairly new, but I think it will be a big hit. The food was excellent. My favorite was the squid tempura appetizer. It was the most tender and un-rubbery squid I have ever eaten. Just one concern - when I asked for artificial sweetener for my coffee, they didn't have any. I was quite surprised. As a diabetic, real sugar is not an option for me. I can't believe that they haven't had this issue come up before. Jun 29, 2008 The Fish Market offers excellent food and service. I recommend the sushi and robata grilled salmon, simply delicious. Located in downtown Reykavik.
