Nov 16, 2008 An extremely homey trattoria, and I mean "homey". When I walked in, there were exactly three tables occupied: one by a single older gentleman eating soup; a second by a woman sipping coffee and writing something on a pad of graph paper; the third by a father and his two children eating pasta. When I looked around the place for someone to seat me, the father at the third table got up, took the pad of graph paper from the woman at the second table, and pointed me to a table. He handed me the pad of graph paper: it was the menu for the day! This is exactly the sort of rusticity I had been looking for. And the food didn't disappoint. I had an excellent pasta course of tagliatelle with a meat/pesto sauce, followed by the typical Piemontese bollito misto served with a little crock of salsa verde. I even ordered a small carafe of the house red wine (up to now I'd had really bad experiences doing this in both Italy and Spain, but here it was better than many bottles of wine I'd bought in either country.) Don't expect elegant surroundings, but do look forward to one of the best meals you'll have in Turin!
