By far best food in town, affordable prices, a bit noisy, but it's live music played by a traditional band. Right at the entrance you are welcomed by a glass of homemade wine, offered by a friendly waiter in a traditional romanian costume. I would recommend their sarmale, placinte or mamaliga, but almost anything you choose is very tasty and truly traditional. Maybe it's a good idea to book in advance, as it is very popular and gets crowded, especially on weekends. High standard for an ex-communist country!

An interesting authentic place in Chisinau. You are likely to be sort of turned off by lots of photos on the walls telling what famous people have been there, but the food is nice and you have a snowball's chance to go without a "one for the road" drink.
