About 15kms outside of Nelson lies Richmond and within easy drive of the small township are a number of very good vineyards. Take a sober driver. Nearly all of them have cafe's or restaurants, some of them good some of them not so good. By far the best, I found, was the Grape Escape. Not a vine yard per se but in the vicinity of many of them. Great little place, great food, superb wine selection, staff very friendly, casual, comfortable surroundings with a beautiful garden setting. You can purchase their salad dressings and coule's. Next door there's a gift shop and small gallery as well as a distillary. Stop there and sample the amazing Snapps.
