I'm a big fan of gelato and am willing to make special destination treks out specifically for the acquisition for some fine gelato.
Who would have thought one of the better places was right under my nose? This place is really no frills, but saving all the effort for the taste. The dark chocolate is the best, and I have a fondness too for their honey lavender flavour. In the summers the lineups are out the door.

There are so many gelato places that make "good" ice cream, it's really hard to find a place that sticks out as being better than the rest - and this Gelato Classico is one of them. Their flavors are just a little more intense than elsewhere - their honey-lavender flavor is my personal favorite, but virtually all their flavors are really top-notch.

It doesn't matter if it's in the middle of a California "winter", after dinner on Castro St. in downtown Mountain View, Gelato Classico is a must visit. They're open late (well not "late" late, Mountain View late) and have an amazing assortment of flavours. Unless you're feeling like an ice cream meal, a 2-flavour small is the way to go.
