Town and Country says of Emporio Rulli Gran Caffe & Ristorante's Executive Chef Angelo Auriana, provides the "best Italian food in America." Chef Angelo Auriana, along with Chef di Cucina John Ruggieri, creates menus of authentic, regional Italian food, which can be complemented by nearly 300 award-winning Italian wines. Sweet and savory not-to-be-missed specialties include the unsurpassable semolina gnocchi, ravioli made with our signature house-made silken pasta, creamy baked broccoli formato and local artesian salumi served on a wooden platter. For dessert, the crema cotta with Valrhona dark chocolate. All this along with the heated sidewalk seating, the vintage salumi slicer in the window, the vast mural on the ceiling, the mahogany-marble wine bar and the classic sounds of an espresso machine ever at work, makes this San Francisco hotspot perfectly evoke the delicious feeling of dining out in Italy.

I stayed a couple of blocks from Union Square while I was in San Francisco and discovered this great little cafe on my first morning's exploratory walk. Fresh pastries, great coffee drinks, and just a relaxing place to enjoy a nice morning. I returned every morning during my stay.
