1. No matter what ethnicity you are, the muni system will tell you in your language to please exit through the rear door.
2. Everyone is very nice and friendly if you have a baby. Unless you are in line for something, then they will cut in front of you.
3. No matter where you are on the Wharf, music of some can be heard, and you can always spot an artist selling their talent.
4. No food type is an impossibility.
5. Apparently my style is decidely "local." (Hats, velcro shoes, cross-body bag, and black rimmed glasses)
6. Bums are everywhere, but unless they are rushing you telling you they are going to kill you (yes this happened), then they aren't aggressive at all.
7. Every restaurant has separate "recyclable, compost, and trash bins, for both patron and staff use, and all public transit is zero emission.
8. You really don't have to walk anywhere. Most people that hop on the bus or cable car are only going a couple blocks and don't want to walk up the hill.
9. Seafood tastes 1,000 times better when you know it was caught locally and can watch it being prepared just for you.
10. Most buildings are so old they were not built with space for a washer and dryer.
11. Art that is hundreds to thousands of years old just might make you cry.
12. The Golden Gate bridge is 1 mile long and is being painted every single day.
13. San Francisco is the most popular tourist destination in the United States.
14. "Chinese" fortune cookies were invented by a Japanese family at the Japanese Tea Garden.
15. Burials are outlawed in the city, so the dead are buried in the neighboring city of Colma.
16. San Francisco cable cars are the only moving National Historic Landmark.
17. Denim jeans were invented in San Francisco for miners who needed tough outerwear.
18. Not everyone in the Haight Ashbury district is a hippy or flamboyantly gay. Not one rainbow flag can be found.
19. There are 17,000 people per square mile.
20. You never have to wait more than 20 minutes for a bus, cable car, or train, and every stop has a digital feed to tell you the time left until the next arrival. One third of all San Franciscans use public transit, and the ones who don't, get there at the same time.
