The last two times I visited Washington DC I made it a point to visit Meskarem. I ate lunch there in 2006 while in town for World Refugee Day. I feel in love with the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff. It was a whole new experience. You definitely gain an appreciation for another culture by eating here. ... If you are not able to eat with your hands then Ethiopian food is not for you. The employees are great and they explain to you anything you need to know regarding the menu, tastes, information on their cuisine and culture. When I returned for World Refugee Day in 2007 I made it a point to visit Meskarem once again with my friends who in turn enjoyed it as well. I have tried Ethiopian food elsewhere but none compare.
