I had my heart set out for Frontera, but given the 3 hour line up, that option was out. On the advice of my roommate that Chicago is all about steak and pizza, we set out to look for a steakplace. Tango Sur seemed like a good enough option, and we arrived, added ourselves to the list (no reservations accepted) and prepared to wait.

And wait.

1.5 hours later we were seated. By then I was famished and tired, so was excited to order. Looking around at the portions, we decided to split a bife vesuvius. Good call because not only was the steak a bit too cooked for me, it was way salty! Not my idea of a good meal, and was disappointing to me since I was only in Chicago one night.

To add insult to injury, the service was terrible! We'd ask for something, then ask again, and again, and never got it. Finally we asked for the bill a good three to four times, actually got it, and vowed not to return.

We decided to eat here after reading rave reviews. The wait was pretty decent for a Friday night (only an hour) however the only thing I remember was not the food - it was the astoundingly bad service. Not only was it slow, it was just bad. We asked 4 different waiters (ours was nowhere to be found) for some sauce to dip our dry bife vesuvius in and nobody came back. The empenadas were good, the spinach mash was just OK and the bife vesuvius (stuffed meat) was dry as a bone and cringingly salty. After a long day of flying in from Cali, we just wanted to get the hell out of there.

The meat was way overdone and to be honest I'd write more although I'm just trying to forget I came here. You'd figure for Chicago, the meat reviews would be on point... totally not worth the wait.

The highlight of the night was that the review we read pointed us a few doors down to Sensational Bites, a great dessert place.
