A New York institution. Star of Sex and the City as well as a recent Saturday Night Live short. This is where the original cupcake macking happens. Old fashioned recipes and décor means walking down memory lane while you savour the flavours of the immediate present. Approximately $2.00 per cupcake. Also sells rice krispy squares and banana pudding.
Cupcakes made a huge comeback thanks in part to Magnolia. They're a bit expensive for cupcakes, but their cupcakes really are yummy and their icing is great. I think they also have other desserts, but I pretty much only went for the cupcakes.

Walking into this bakery, I felt like I was walking back in time. I had heard lots about this bakery before I actually went, and what I heard was certainly enough for me to make a determined trek through downtown Manhattan near the cruise ship terminals where I was all the way down to west village where they were. (I gave up part way and took the taxi). But it was certainly worthwhile. The cupcakes aren’t fancy, but that’s part of their charm. Simply delicious and reasonably priced homestyle baking. I got a half dozen cupcakes to share with my friends, and certainly wished I got more. Well worth a visit.

It's a small bakery with cupcakes, cakes, and other goodies that are absolutely the best. The money spent is well worth it. It is often quite crowded, with a line going out the door (at least it was like that when I went).
