Pittsburgh brings back great memories. Had a lot of fun at Duquesne University- I would go to class with my girlfriend and we would see what kind of trouble we could get into ;) Even on the shortest of trips to Pittsburgh, I would have to have a Primanti Bros sandwhich- nothing fancy about it- they serve these messy conconctions on wax paper- brilliant business idea, if you ask me- a little messy, but thats part of the experience. Primanti brothers made this Pittsburgh creation famous- there's copycats all across the country.... Look at the menu-theres a variety of options- but no matter what type you choose, its going to be topped with their homemade coleslaw, tomatoes and some french fries- makes for a large lunch, but its well worth it- all those layers of delicious messy-ness- thats a Primanti Brothers sandwich- and a Pittsburgh legend. If you have been to the 3 River Stadium City and left without having tried this - you need to turn around and find a location- there are so many, I preferred the South Side ( or like they would say it- Sow-Side- in their unique PA accent) but I think that's because it was closest and were just poor college kids lookin for a good meal.

For me no visit to Pittsburgh is complete with a Primanti Brothers sandwich. If you are going to Pittsburgh you have to give the sandwich a try, but be hungry when you go. The Primanti Brothers sandwich is loaded high with french fries, coleslaw and tomato.
The original Primantis is on The Strip in Pittsburgh and it's open 24/7 and believe me this sandwich hits the spot when you've had one too many on The Strip. They have plenty of other locations around town too, they even sell them at Heinz Field and PNC park, wherever you are in the Pittsburgh Metro, odds are there is a Primanti Brothers near you. Enjoy!

A twenty-four hour no frills sandwich shop in the Strip District of Pittsburgh has kick-ass sandwiches.

A small space, the walls, covered with caricatures of some of Pittsburgh's favorite offspring, capture your attention. The menu, on placards posted above the counter, displays various sandwich meat options, along with Pittsburgh-style chili and the number one seller, Iron City Beer. Whatever you choose, you get heaping mounds of steaming meat, grease, and slaw.

You have to stop and get this signature sandwich at one of its many locations in Pittsburgh. Every time, it's my goal to finish a whole sandwich, and every time I do, but it's a struggle. They're SOOO good!

For those not from the area, don't be discouraged because there are fries and coleslaw on the sandwich..I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised!
