Was dropped off here while I had a 4 hour layover before my train was to depart. Very soon it was clear to me that this was a pretty popular thing to do as the restaurant quickly filled up with loads of tourists. They serve you cold tea on arrival and they don't give you any pressure to order which is nice. Food was quite reasonably priced ($20,000-$60,000 dong) and quick, but nothing spectacular. Wifi was great - very fast connection. I also found out that they rent places above the restaurant at $100,000 dong for a shower if you feel particularly nasty after a day of sunscreen and dust. It's better rates than the Nha Nghi's around that wanted to charge $200,000 for the same.

We (along with many others) waited here right across the street from the Lao Cai train station for the sleeper back to Hanoi. Friendly staff, fast wifi and air conditioning. What more could you ask for on a blistering day in Lao Cai? Food was so-so, though the quiet, air conditioned 100k Dong rooms (~$6 USD) to freshen up before the train elevates this place for me.
