Located in eastern Afghanistan, Jalalabad was once a major centre of Greco-Buddhist Culture.  During various wars in its history, many of the historical buildings were destroyed.  Today the city is being rebuilt by NATO and UN.  Some historical sites managed to escaped unscathed and are worth visiting.

The Kyhber Pass linking Jalalabad and Kabul is a beautiful drive during the day.  Once things settle down in Afghanistan, this will really be a drive to be appreciated.  For now, travel with care and caution. Don't forget your camera.
