Go and see the castle here and get someone to translate the story of the building of the castle and three brothers.  There are some fantastic restaurants around the lake.

Don't forget to visit the Citadel in Skodra when you are anywhere in the region.  Not only the citadel itself is superbly interesting to see with a huge surface to explore, but the views from this bolder of a hill are simply breath-taking: southwards you can see the river plains stretching to the horizon, limited by the Albanian mountains, westward the final lines of the Montenegrin mountains, northwestward the expanse of lake Skodra, and northward the town of Skodra itself.  Not to forget the café/restaurant that was built into the citadel walls, giving way to a great view southwards, and decorated in the typical Albanian kitschy fake-Turkish style.  I loved it.

Expect to get totally ripped off by the cabbies taking you to the border from here. There's not much you can do about it - it will be at least 20euro unless you can speak Albanian and are good at bargaining.
