Travel Tips from people who've been to Sarande
Small and nice little town, friendly and relaxed people, many weird shelters, nice view to Corfu and the Jonian Sea, wild beaches and a lot construction going on... Good tip? (+1) The people of Sarande are very proud of their local produced of mussels, so take the opportunity to try some. Whilst out and about in the town you will be followed by people trying to sell you lace goods. They are very cheap and will help out the people who are clearly struggling so dig deep and buy a souvenir. Get a local tour (which can be arranged from Corfu if you want to guarantee your safety) and head out to the World Heritage site of Butrint, an ancient Roman town with an amazing little arena. See the footprints of a Roman guard outside the entrance! You need a good guide though as the area is reputed to be bandit country and the site itself is protected by armed guards. Good tip? (0)
