Travel Tips from people who've been to Sarande
Small and nice little town, friendly and relaxed people, many weird shelters, nice view to Corfu and the Jonian Sea, wild beaches and a lot construction going on...
Good tip?

The people of Sarande are very proud of their local produced of mussels, so take the opportunity to try some. Whilst out and about in the town you will be followed by people trying to sell you lace goods. They are very cheap and will help out the people who are clearly struggling so dig deep and buy a souvenir.
Get a local tour (which can be arranged from Corfu if you want to guarantee your safety) and head out to the World Heritage site of Butrint, an ancient Roman town with an amazing little arena. See the footprints of a Roman guard outside the entrance! You need a good guide though as the area is reputed to be bandit country and the site itself is protected by armed guards.

this is mafioso land all i remember is huge amouts of german mercedes and water mellons on sale everywhere. in the night go to the waters edge and go on the boat bars with outragous decores and marble fountains and sip cocktails with the locals. heading out of town north if it hasnt yet pluged into the sea is a fascinating hotel. its a round glass building on the edge off the sea.the reception doubles as a mini bar and always on our approach the hotelier would turn for a plung at the gin. we left our sweet gran who had lost her memory with him often while we bathed in the sea in front watching them throughthe glass. my gran seemed to like attacking him. one night i awoke with the rooom full of smoke the whole side of the moutai was on fire, just normal stuff apparently, well we weared those guys thin ando our final night at an untimely hour we ordered our last dinner of omlette asnd chips before heading north , we waited and waited and waited and then to our surprise and complete amusement all the staff where sat at a table digging into our chips ad omlettes. it was so funny, but we did go to bed hungry.,stay there.
