Argentina

With its glorious natural surroundings and unique South American culture, Argentina offers an incredible blend of experiences for travelers of all styles and preferences. From the magnificent Iguaza Falls in the north, to Patagonia’s jagged mountain peaks in the south, to the charming cobblestone streets of Buenos Aires’ old neighborhoods, Argentina is an amazing country to travel in.

In Buenos Aires, soak in some neoclassical architecture at the Catedral Metropolitana (Metropolitan Cathedral) or catch a performance at the Opera Colon (the world’s largest opera house). Visit the old artists’ quarter of La Boca and enjoy a tango show at a milonga club. Or simply enjoy its numerous parks, shopping districts, botanical gardens, a racetrack, polo grounds, a zoo, and some of the greatest nightlife in the world. Then head west to check out the nightlife in the university town of Cordoba before tasting some of the world’s finest wines grown from the vineyards surrounding the sycamore-lined city of Mendoza in the western-most parts of the country.

Tour Patagonia’s many lakes, forests and mountains, and be sure to visit the spectacular glaciers in Los Glacieres National Park. The food in Argentina is also very good, drawing primarily on Spanish and Italian influences. Its remarkably tender brand of beef is considered to be among the best in the world and Asado (traditional Argentinean barbecued beef) is an absolute must-try for meat lovers.

Stunning place and well worth the trip if you have to go out of your way to get there. On the Argentine side a train brings you into the National Park (no cars allowed) and I'd recommend going to the last stop first as if you run out of time by visiting the other stops first you'll miss the highlight of the falls - the Devil's Throat. Amazing.

Good place to organise a skydive if you want to do one. They pick you up at your hostel and drop you off again later once you're done your leap!
