Mar Del Plata is big city and has a lot of tourists. I don't think I've ever seen a city like it before. The city's name translates to "sea of silver". It's got old architecture, a beautiful beach, casinos, clubs, great restaurants and is a trip worth taking. Be careful with you're jewelry because there are people who will probably try to take it. You should also watch your money. Unlike the homeless people in L.A. who will stand at the street corner with a sign, in Argentina they will walk up to you and grab you and beg for money. There are also people who will hand you different things like toys or post cards and expect you to pay for them. Just as a note for those of you who haven't been to South America, it's best to go when it's winter in the U.S. Because when it's winter out here, it's summer out there.
