Unlike the typical lush and tropical Caribbean island, Aruba has a dry, arid climate. Located off the coast of Venezuela, this island offers a number of contrasts, from rocky shores and crashing white waves on one side of the island, to piercing blue water with incredible clarity and beautiful fine sand beaches. Due to the constant presence of tradewinds, Aruba is a must stop for any serious windsurfer; Aruba is host to the annual Hi-Winds Amateur World windsurfing tournament, an event attended by some of the top competitors in the Caribbean. In the interior, the landscape changes again, towards dry desert like conditions filled with giant cactus and aloe trees. While inland, be sure to stop at Hooiberge – a small mountain that is readily accessible, from which you will be able to see Venezuela on a clear day. Nearby, Casibari and Ayo features strange geological boulders that geologists are still puzzling about. Throughout the land, you can see photographic divi divi trees – wind sculpted bent and gnarly-looking trees. For more cultural activities, Oranjestad, the country’s capital, features Dutch colonial architecture. A walk through the city showcases fishmongers with their day’s catch, as well as a wealth of shopping options downtown. Fort Zoutman and Willem III Tower, is the oldest tower on the island. From beachcombing to luxury resorts, outdoor excursions to inland treks, there is a lot to discover in Aruba!

Travel Tips from people who've been to Aruba
I want to start off by saying that Palm Beach is absolutely beautiful and one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever been to in the world (and I've been to quite a few) - gorgeous, fine, powder-white sand, amazingly blue water, great swimming (i.e. calm), however, what blew me away (almost literally) was the ever-present, extreme gusts of wind.  Now, people talk about the lovely trade winds in Aruba, but in my humble opinion, these winds were/are actually pretty fierce - you have to tuck in your beach towels into the lounge chairs or you will be chasing them down the beach, no joke.  You get sand blasted every few minutes and as much as I was dying to enjoy the beauty that is Aruba, and Palm Beach, the ever-present wind gusts made it really challenging to, unfortunately.  If it wasn't for these mad trade winds, I would go back to Aruba in a heartbeat - something to consider - hope the tip helps =)

Ah Aruba!! The Happiest Island! We took our 2 teenagers to Aruba for a wonderful week of cultural exchange, water sports and unbelievable people. Go to www.traveltalkmedia.com/ARUBA and see for yourself. The itinerary is easy to follow and we have published restuarants and other wonderful activies you must partake in! Have a wonderful trip! And remember, there is so much electricity there that it will blow your mind to see little stores with the doors open and air conditioners going full blast. Have a ball! AND tons of Aloe vera is every where along with great Aloe Vera products. Stock up and bring them home for every king of use. Safe Travels! The island is very small and the winds are going 24/7. No wonder Marco Polo got where he was going, the winds will knock your hat off in a NY minute, so hang on!! Sandy
