Travel Tips from people who've been to Chillagoe
This is a great day trip from any of the coastal areas. Be sure to pack snacks and drinks since the town is very small and has limited amenities. When you first arrive head straight to the Hub. The owners are very friendly, will provide you a map of the area, and answer any questions you may have. They also book the cave tours and will point out the main spots in town not to miss. Although the road there is unsealed, it is maintained every year. The caves and aboriginal art are well preserved and easily marked so you can't miss them. The 4 people I ran into the last time I was there were very outgoing and willing to help with everything. You read right, only ran into 4 people the whole day I was there. My cave tour was also just me and the guide so it was very personalized. I would suggest this off the beaten path spot to anyone visiting the nearby coast. Good tip? (0) You can do camping, bush walking, cave tours, check out the marble sites and get those all important souvenirs. Chat to the locals. Make sure you have good shoes, water, comfortable clothing & a buddy. Another quiet place. Good tip? (0) Ask a travel question about Chillagoe
