Kangaroo Island Travel Guide

Kangaroo Island is one of my favorite places in Australia.  About a 30 minute flight from Adelaide, it's a world apart, and very much the real Australian experience people seek.  As a travel agent who specializes in Australia, I've been over about 30 times, and KI still exceeds my expectations.  Wildlife?  Plenty of it, and not in zoos.  You walk amongst sea lions on Seal Beach - you are in their habitat - it's the real deal.  Kangaroo Island Kangaroos are everywhere; plenty of koalas, plenty of echidnas - and if you want to see the Little Penguins, you can see them on KI without the crowds of Phillip Island.  Accommodations range from small guest houses and boutique accommodations to some new luxury places like Southern Ocean Lodge.  It's safe.  It's easy to interact with locals.  It is authentic and unhurried.  I love it. If you want to see some great wildlife, plan a daytrip and you will be amazing.  Kangaroos came right up to us and we walked within feet of seals resting on the shore. If you really want to rough it, you can opt to camp overnight there. 

Take a day trip, so much is packed in, seals, sand dunes, bar-b-q's, wine tasting, kangaroos...absolutely amazing memories.
