Travel Tips from people who've been to Hobart
If you are planning on buying food from a supermarket for your stay in hobart, do not buy your food from the supermarket on the main Salamanca strip. Deli items%2 Good tip? (+1) Check your email before you get to Tasmania! It can be as much as $10 per hour there!!! For Bonorung Wildlife Sanctuary (to see the baby devils) catch any bus from Stand E (double check with the driver it is going to Glenorchy.) Go to stop C in Glenorchy and change busses for any Brighton-bound bus and get off at Munday street. (Ask the driver and he will point you in the right direction.) From there it is a 10 minute walk, of which half is uphill. The tours start at 11:30, there are also tours at other times, but that is the time I know. Anyways, it is very very cool, you get to learn all about, and pat the baby wombats, you get to feed the Kangaroos and Wallabys an pat the Koalas, and watch the baby tasmanian devils get fed, and they make the strangest noise!!! (Have you ever seen ghost? Remember the shaddow creatures???) Good tip? (0) The Taste, an annual Hobart attraction where Tasmana's best wine-makers present their award winning wines along with local food stalls with an international flavour. Always make sure you have money before arriving and plan for at least half a day to spend there. If it's going to rain, take a tea-towel or something with you to wipe down seats. I suggest you stay away from Killpatrick oysters, eat them cold and natural, they will be the freashest. Don't pay for a full main, a plate to 'taste' is better value for money, even though all food stalls charge you at least $2-3 more than you might think your plate of food is worth. Always go with friends. Friends are always to enjoyed with good food and wine. If you aren't a wine drinker, then try the local beers! Good tip? (0)
