04640In der Hamersley Range, im Zentrum der Pilbara, liegt der ausgedehnte Karijini-Nationalpark (engl. Karijini National Park, früher Hamersley National Park). Er bietet eine spektakuläre, raue Kulisse in einer uralten geologischen Formation. Mit 627.445 ha ist er der zweitgrößte Nationalpark Westaustraliens. Die trockene, staubige Steppe des Hochplateaus wird durchzogen von windungsreichen Flussläufen, die plötzlich in bis zu 100 m tiefe Schluchten stürzen und Bassins füllen, in denen das klare, frische Wasser für eine erstaunliche redirect-Flora und Fauna sorgt.
