This is the best thing ever!!! The School offers free hiking every morning and even an evening lantern hike. They even provide you with hiking shoes and a backpack, a guide and transport to the hike trail. They meet at the Congress Center at 9 am (check the city info office for more details on where the hikes are) and the hikes last 4-6 hours. The hike I did was long but so amazing that I will never forget my trip there. The evening lantern tour is fun too as you stop for drinks and music. I would never have gone hiking alone on my trip and the Alpine School offered me the ability to do one of my favorite things with a trained guide. Plus, I got to meet some very interesting people. Good tip? (+1) Vienna, Vienna State, Austria Beautiful City and nice people! Schönbrunn Palace is spectacular but I love Sisi museum more. That's so gorgeous and interesting. Christmas markets were brilliant! Romantic and unforgetable. Good tip? (0) Linz, Upper Austria, Austria Linz is situated in the north of Austria approximately 4 hours from Wien by train. It is an industrial city and this is reflected throughout however it is aesthetically pleasing with lovely people and brilliant hostels. However there is not much to do except for their excellent technology museum. The still intact concentration camp a short bus ride away (can no longer remember the name) is a must see! Perched on a hill side it has brilliant views and a chilling atmosphere. Although most of the written information is in German an audio guide is provided free of charge however be warned that they will ask for your passport as security!! Good tip? (0) Graz, Styria State, Austria A beautifull city surrounded by hills on the south of Austria. There is a mixture of old buildings combined with a new and modern architecture which match perfectly together. It's a city of artists all kind, city of young people and full of musicians all sorts. When tired of walking down beautifull colourfull streets full of people who are shopping, enjoying a good company, walking and drinking coffee, you can find your getaway in the surrounding hills and just enjoy peacefull nature which will fill in your batteries and bring peace to your mind.. Good tip? (0) Vienna, Vienna State, Austria beautiful opera, it was raining all days and people are not correct Good tip? (0) Roman Catholic 74%, Protestant 5%, Muslim 4%, others 17%. Vienna, Vienna State, Austria Its a nice city for just a weekend. A lot of culture and stuff...wouldnt say the nightlife is bad, but its definitly not brilliant. Its a nice city to relax and enjoy your days of. Do not go there in the winter...unless you like shitty weather Good tip? (0) Salzburg, Salzburg State, Austria Salzburg is a cultural must whether you are into Mozart or the Sound of Music. This picturesque city is well worth a visit and even the Mc Donalds is not allowed to diplay its big M sign thus keeping the tone of the cobble streets firmly into the past. Good tip? (0) Vienna, Vienna State, Austria Wien is a cultural phenomenon. It´s just filled with museums and history. Complete package for the art lover. Good tip? Good tip? (+1) Salzburg, Salzburg State, Austria Salzburg! Loved it. Great town, not too big but with history. Definitely recommend the Sound of Music Tour and you will find out the real story, not the Disney version! Make sure you play the drinking game - everytime you hear the names 'Maria' or 'Captian' said in the movie, drink!
Also known as the birthplace of Mozart and there is a statue/fountain to prove it.
Visit the castle on top of the cliff - it is cool and has amazing views.
Great shopping, easy walking distances. Loved the Christmas shop the best. Good tip? (0) Baden, Lower Austria, Austria A vacation resort in Austria, if you want to relax, eat well, have good massages, listen to classic music and gambel, thats the place for you.
The Nature is beautiful and the place has an old heritage and many stories. Good tip? (0) Salzburg, Salzburg State, Austria Definitely take the Sound of Music tour - it sounds lame but you get to see a lot of the surrounding countryside and it is breathtaking! Good tip? Good tip? (+1) Mayrhofen, Tyrol State, Austria Visit Sport Wegscheider for your ski and snowboarding rentals and any gear. The staff is very helpful, friendly, and speak English. They are located right across from the Hotel Strass and the base of the ski slope in the center of town. Good tip? (+1) Sankt Gilgen, Salzburg State, Austria A charming town on the Wolfgangsee in the Salzkammergut region. There are some wonderful hikes in this area. Check out the Music Instrument Museum where you can hear instruments from around the world. Good tip? (0) Feld am See, Karnten State, Austria Feld am See is a nice small village on a lake in a small valley. to does: hiking, swimming, relaxing. excellent place for families with childrens. The place it not busy at all.... Good tip? (0) Ehrwald, Tyrol State, Austria ein Trip zur Zugspitze lohnt immer Good tip? (+1) Salzburg, Salzburg State, Austria A couple of things you should do if you have a little more time in Salzburg;
Go to the Museum der Moderne on the Monchsberg.
Go to the AugustinerBrau for really good Austrian food, good beer and cheap prices in a great environment.
Go to the Steinterrassencafe in the Hotel Stein, just next to the main bridge- you get a great view over the centre.
Sit in Mirabell Gardens for a bit, you'll see all the locals sunning themselves.
Have Sacher Torte, the Hotel Sacher cafe has the best but it's quite expensive.
Mozart Kugeln obviously- but buy the ones from the Konditorei Furst (the silver ones) because they're the originals.
Mozart's Geburthaus is quite boring, his Wohnhaus is quite cool.
In summer, go to the Eisgrotte on Getreidegasse for amazing ice cream.
Cafe Tomaselli isn't really that expensive; if you go have the apfelstrudel. It's immense.
If you have half a day to spare go up to the Untersberg (a mountain), on a sunny day the view is amazing. Failing that the view from the Hohensalzburg Fortress good.
Get a Salzburg Card- you can get in pretty much any touristy place free plus you don't have to pay for buses. Good tip? (+1) Kanzelhohe, Karnten State, Austria Excellent in winter for skiing, for beginners and in summer for hiking. Good tip?
Superb city one needs trio’s day for the visited.
To make gone imperatively in a pastry making of the district of the opera and y tasted a chocolate cake with a hot chocolate a little expensive but for the greedy ones with not passed to with dimensions. Good tip? (+1) Mairhofen, Tyrol State, Austria nice ski resort, great mountains Good tip? (+1) |
