About Austria Planning a Trip to Austria
Salzburg, Salzburg State, Austria A couple of things you should do if you have a little more time in Salzburg;
Go to the Museum der Moderne on the Monchsberg.
Go to the AugustinerBrau for really good Austrian food, good beer and cheap prices in a great environment.
Go to the Steinterrassencafe in the Hotel Stein, just next to the main bridge- you get a great view over the centre.
Sit in Mirabell Gardens for a bit, you'll see all the locals sunning themselves.
Have Sacher Torte, the Hotel Sacher cafe has the best but it's quite expensive.
Mozart Kugeln obviously- but buy the ones from the Konditorei Furst (the silver ones) because they're the originals.
Mozart's Geburthaus is quite boring, his Wohnhaus is quite cool.
In summer, go to the Eisgrotte on Getreidegasse for amazing ice cream.
Cafe Tomaselli isn't really that expensive; if you go have the apfelstrudel. It's immense.
If you have half a day to spare go up to the Untersberg (a mountain), on a sunny day the view is amazing. Failing that the view from the Hohensalzburg Fortress good.
Get a Salzburg Card- you can get in pretty much any touristy place free plus you don't have to pay for buses. Good tip? (+1) Laab im Walde, Lower Austria, Austria Ok, first I need to say, that's the place where I grew up.
It's pretty nice and very friendly. Not much touristically but they do have a very nice cafè there, a grocier, 2 restaurants and a post office. Also from time to time we have there some pretty great fire-rescue-partys. It's always a huge get together. Surely the best time to get to know the people there. Also the Festival on May 1st, where they set up the May-Tree is really recommendable! Good tip? (0) Innsbruck, Tyrol State, Austria It's an easy walk from the train station to the center of town. It's best to come in the winter time. The train from Munich to Innsbruck goes through some spectacular Alpine scenery. Good tip? (0) Bad Hofgastein, Salzburg State, Austria After a night our drinking or clubbing. You would generally leave a bar/club at about 2 or 3 in the morning. Those who drink will know that this is the peak time to have a midnight snack. The best place to go is this Doener Stube around the corner of the underground club! BEST EVER! Good tip? (0) Salzburg, Salzburg State, Austria Spring time is the best time to enjoy the blooms in the land of Sound of Music. Wear comfy walking shoes and brace yourself for a day of strolling and sniffing the floral aroma. Good tip? (0) Vienna, Vienna State, Austria No public buses on Sundays so make sure you don't end up on a work bus (like an adult version of a school bus) that takes you out to a giant post office in the middle of nowhere. Good tip? (0) Laab im Walde, Lower Austria, Austria Ok, first I need to say, that's the place where I grew up.

(0) Steyr, Upper Austria, Austria I would recommend the center of styria in the christmas time. you have the chance to drive with the old post-bus to Christkindl, where a big christmas market is and also the christmas "post-office". in the castle of steyr is a christmas market as well, but you have to pay an small entry fee (but it's worth it). i love this city, it's very special for me. Good tip? (0) Steyr, Upper Austria, Austria Go to Steyr, visit the post office in Christkindl (a cute little village not far from Steyr) and post your letter for the Christkind. There's no better way to send your Christmas wishes. Good tip? (0) Salzburg, Salzburg State, Austria Visit the castle and take the guided tour. The views are spectacular from the highest points, but don't go too early in the morning or your photos of the city will be ruined as you'll be looking into the sun. Good tip? (0) Melk, Lower Austria, Austria If you like to explore charming little Baroque towns on the Danube, you can't miss Melk! Stift Melk, the golden Benedictine abbey set on a rocky hill above the town, dates back to the early eighteenth century. Take the abbey tour to see exquisite chapels, libraries, ceiling frescoes, and some great photo opportunities! Good tip? (0) Badgastein, Salzburg State, Austria Set in the Austrian Mountains Badgastein is a walkers paradise in the summer and a skiing heaven in the winter. You have to try the outside heated swimming pool/spa it is great especially if it is raining outside.
There is a great waterfall in the centre of town which makes for good photography as well as powering the hydro-electric plant. Good tip? (0) Salzburg, Salzburg State, Austria Head across the river and up the hill. First, across the river for a spectacular panoramic view of the city with the Salz Burg looming above it. Second, back on the center of the city side, head up the hill into the park. It is especially wonderful early in the morning or early evening. One morning I was taking pictures of the mist lifting when a monk in full brown habit happened down one of the footpaths. I was so stunned and perhaps respectful of his meditations that I did not take a picture, but it is perhaps a clearer pictue in my mind than anything digital or on paper. Good tip? (0) Vienna, Vienna State, Austria schlossbrun, maria hilfe straße,wiener staat opern,
schweizerhaus,pratern Good tip? (0) Irdning, Styria State, Austria shopping, in this village you can only buy traditional (farm products) like smoked ham/trout, "Steirerkas" (special chees) for bigger shopping tours you have to go to Liezen (10min away, by car) local customs, to go out I can only suggest Cafe Gabriel (village disco), what to bring, is a good place to stay if you want to go skiing (winter) or hiking (summer) food, for excellent food i would suggest "Grabenwirt" in Altirdning (traditional meals/dishes), if you like fish i would suggest a fish restaurant at Trautenfels (5min away, by car) Good tip? (0) Salzburg, Salzburg State, Austria salzburg is a music city.in salzburg was born wolfgang amadeus mozzart Good tip? (0) Ehrwald, Tyrol State, Austria ein Trip zur Zugspitze lohnt immer Good tip?
