Azerbaijan Language

Azeri is the official language.  It originated from the western Turkic language and has common characteristics with the languages of Anatolian Turkish and Turkman.  Apart from being spoken in Azerbaijan, Azeri is also spoken by over 40 million people in northern Iran.
