I want to recommend two very different hotels in Shaki:
1) Karavanserey, a beautiful but simple hotel in an old caravansery (an old kind of Motel in the arabian world). Its architecture is really breathtaking. The rooms are simple, but are clean with hot water and TV (only makes sense, if you understand azerbaijan or turkish). Unfortunately there was no heating (at least in my room) and it gets cold in the azerbaijan winter. My single room cost 25 US$. There's wifi internet at the reception and you find the hotel in the old town.
2) Hotel Seki Saray, a quite new modern western style hotel at the central square of Shaki. One really enjoys its comfort after a few days travelling through rural Azerbaijan, but of course it comes with a pricetag: 125 US$ for a twin room. But I definitely didn't want to miss it in Shaki.
