Quiet village with lots of plantations and farms! Nice people.

Try to visit the weekly market on Thursday, see the views, smell the smells and taste the tastes. Take a seat on a benche on this busy market situated on the largest square of the Low Countries and observe the colourfull aray of local people stolling around.

Ghent is my city of dreams. it is a student city and it haves so many parties. You can find cheap and very delicious turkish restaurant at the 'sleepstraat' it is around 4,50€ for one pizza with a salad, and believe me, you will not finish your plate! they put so much pizza on your plate, you will hardly finish it. to interact with the locals, go to brown pubs, ghent haves so many fancy bars. Beer is cheap in Belgium. (around 1,80€) gay and lesbians, they have plenty off bars for you! we have 'use it' that's the touristdesk for young alternative people. you can get free maps there. but also tips where to go. night life: go to overpoort for more commercial stuff, go to the 'vlasmarkt' for alternative bars.

The most peaceful town you've ever seen. where people meet each other in one of the many local pubs and where you can wander down a lonely path enjoying the wanderful view of the church

If in Ghent (Gent) and looking for some architecture and culture one must pay a visit to the Korenmarkt. This just happens to be one of the best areas to experience the Ghent nightlife.

Ghent is a beautifull city with lots of nice places to relax during the day and to party during the night!. During the day you can find loads of people at the Graslei or Korenlei. A very charming places by the water with lots of cosy terraces. At night I can recommend 'The Culture Club' Afrikalaan 172 for a huge party. This is a well-known party-place in Ghent and Belgium. Nice, relaxing city with a modest yet fun nightlife and tons of cultural events

Cosy, cultural, multi-culrural and tolerant, safe, historical, gastronomical, small but not hillbilly. Loads of pubs. Few dance clubs but plenty of parties. In short: the place to be!!

Very pretty town with excellant architecture, night life is pretty good, for good atmosphere i would reccomend celtic towers although yet it is an irish pub but comes into its own during the beer festival, beer festival time sees loads of bars pop up all around the town, there is loads of live music at this time and the atmosphere is brilliant with not a hint of danger, truly great time to be had by all

On a sunny day, grab an ice cream and head for the Graslei. You'll be surrounded by Gentsters making music and bascially chilling...its a great way to spend the afternoon.

Some nice bars, if you don't like the mainstream loungy situations : L'heure bleue (Sint Jacobs), Afsnis (next to L'heure bleue), Trollenkelder (Sint Jacobs), Trefpunt (next to Trollenkelder, every monday free folk concert), Kinky Star (Vlasmarkt = next to Sint Jacobs, every tuesday free rock concert), 't Begin van 't einde (Vlasmarkt, in front of Kinky Star), Pink Flamingo's (more arty farty, but cosy, close to Vrijdagmarkt), Dambert (Korenmarkt = main square, jazz bar), Manteca (close to Korenmarkt, jazz bar), Hot Club de Gand (Groentenmarkt, close to Korenmarkt, jazz bar), Galgenhuisje (brown pub, Groentenmarkt), Hotsy Totsy (arty farty, jazz bar), Fatima (very nice pub, the people make the atmosphere, all kinds of music),... and so on...

Genter Feste!
In the historical center of the city Gent, in the heart of Flanders (Belgium), each year during the week of 21 July „the Genter of celebrations takes place”. 10 days long free meetings at different places: Music, international road theatre and Puppetbuskeracts, stage performances, guidance and much more besides.

We have 3 mountainbike tracks and they all start at the local sports centre

Olsene itself is not really touristic though the subburbs and city's around has bike roads trough some nature, de Leie (is kinda river with a lot of bends and go's trough, not really sure, 9 or 12 city's and subburbs.. nightlife is here and around ok, loads of café's, bars, disco's till ... almost the clock round.. city's are Deinze, Gent, Kortrijk, and all in between.

I live in Ghent since november 2006 and I still feel like a tourist here. I actually quiet like it; I discover new places each day. The diner I discovered 2 weeks ago, is a little but popular diner. The dishes aren't expensive but good and tasty; many students go there. And for all smokers; the don't serve fries there so you can still smoke inside the diner! :) The diner is called 'Bleuzette' and you can find it at 'Sint-Kwintensberg' in the city centre of Ghent.

a fantastic centre with amazing sightseeing. I recommend prawns at a typical restaurant in the centre (a bit expensive, but tasty:))
