The country has a population of about 11 million, and is split into two main linguistic regions: the Dutch-speaking Flanders 57.9%; the French-speaking Wallonia 31.7%; the legally bilingual Brussels Capital Region 9.7%; and German-speaking 0.7%.

Met some great people in the youth hostel there. Sampled the whacky Belgian beer...flavours include banana, apple, cherry and blackberry. Stick to the lagers though...trust me, your stomach doesn't want to throw it back up as easily.
