Belize Transportation

Belize has only 4 major highways leading out from Belize City. Belize, the entire country mind you, has only four stop lights. The fifth one was blown down by a hurricane! I am very serious. The roads are very small, so the larger vehicle gets the right of way. My wife and I traveled the Western Highway. The locals were very nice, but the street vendors can be very annoying. Make sure you check out the Wet Lizard in the Tourist village, if you went there on a cruise ship. I also endorse the Belikin beer which they brew just outside of Belize city.

If you're driving, be careful about the crosswalks. They are raised platforms that you have to go slowly over.

Belize is a really easy to get around with a really good bus service to all parts of the country......even remote Mayan villages

This little island is great fun. Be sure to rent a golf cart for a couple of hours and explore the entire island. Ya - only a couple of hours, it's that small of an island!

Not very intersting city, but the islands and riffs in front of it are amazing!
