Belize - Precautions

Beautiful place to walk and see the sites. Be wary of the beggars. The people are nice though. I went on a cruise and they took us out to tube in a river out side the city in the mountains. The country was just simply beautiful. The "cave tubing" was fun but quite a hike up to the point where you start.

Its a beautiful city, but...the tourist areas by the harbor felt like a prison camp. Within you will never experience what the actual country is like.

If you access by sea from Guatemala, the immigration point will be Punta Gorda. Be sure the custum "officers" don't charge you a dime. They did it to me the last time I was there and 5 minutes later I found out they were not allowed to charge anything. I went back and claimed my money back, the gave it back to me but not so politely.

there is a common wine that the locals drink that gets you drunk twice. At night and then it hits you again in the sun

No matter where you go, or what you do please remember...YOU ARE NOT HOME. Don't expect things to be as they are in your home town! To fully experience a new place, try to read up about the culture so you can better assimilate to THEIR way of life. That's why you are traveling right? To experience something new and different? If not, then PLEASE stay home!!!

just dont look up when you are in the bird sanctuary (bird shit flying down), you can enjoy the view later at the viewpoint at the end.

It is such a great place to travel. The people are awesome! Just be respectful of the Mennonites in the different communities and you should be golden!Hitch hiking is very common/expected even. It's a very laid back part of the world. You should have no trouble finding your way through it. If you find yourself with a fever get to the doctor/nurse immediately. It's too hot, even in the rainy season to get sick. They can bring your fever down. The sun seems to be very strong in this area as well. I burn easily, and I found that NoAd and a dark t-shirt did the trick!

Ne te promène pas toute seule le soir avec ton gros pack sac dans cette ville!!
